Tom and Rose Abbott LaValle Donley House, 1948
Tom and Rose Abbott LaValle Donley House, 1948. Janice Garlock Donley Collection. |
Edward and Elizabeth Jacob Abbott sold a lot to their daughter, Rose, on November 28, 1924 (Deed number 67964, volume 2229, page 450, Recorder of Deeds, City-County Building, Pittsburgh, PA) for the sum of one dollar and "natural love and affection". Edward and Elizabeth gave a lot to each of their children when they sold their farm to a housing developer in 1924. Rose and John LaValle (and later, Tom Donley) took care of Edward and Elizabeth in their old age, living with them at 278 Beverly Road. Rose and Tom Donley contracted with R. Jubulow to build this house on their own lot in 1945. This photograph was taken three years later.
