| Bullwhip with Oak Handle, from the Abbott Ice and Packing Plant. 10'9" from the far end of the handle to the end of the leather; 7" string on end; the oak handle is a total of 12" long, with 5-1/2" wrapped with the leather braided whip, and 6-1/2" exposed wood to serve as the hand grip. A resident of Carnegie, who died in 2000 at the age of 93, remembered seeing them drive the livestock down Jane Street from the P. C. & Y. R. R. [Pittsburgh, Chartiers & Youghigheny Rail Road] station to the slaughterhouse. The train station can be seen on the 1897 map - a couple of blocks to the left of the bridge over Chartiers Creek.
